Prayer Of Those Who Cannot Go To Holy Mass
Another year is over and I take this time to reflect how God beautifully helped me to build up my faith and love for him. There were good times and some unpleasant ones, but he is always there to lead and guide me to the promise of his own peace (John 14:27). His instructions are just and clear and we only need to abide by them to see the Lord’s great plan for each one of us with blessing and victory in everything (Isaiah 48:18).
So nicely our Bishop Paul Hinder wrote in his pastoral letter 2011 “Do this in memory of me” (Luke 22:19). And truly he has brought forth his childhood experience in his family and prayer that helped him in his vocation to serve our Lord. Also the in-depth mystery of the scripture was unfolded in simplicity to have a better understanding in areas that we could bring a change or strengthen our faith towards God.
I would like to share one of the topic he touched “Spiritual communion for those who cannot go to Mass” where he shares his childhood memories of saying the below prayer when going to church was difficult. Our commitment towards our family and work does at times force us to give second priority for Holy Mass and to everything we do. Let us seek the Kingdom of God first and surely we will find our Lord’s glory (Mathew 6:33).
In this part of the world, we do have limited choice, so let us say this beautiful prayer to our Guardian Angel to bring forth the Lord’s presence. Let the prayer be said in utmost reverence to the Risen Lord in faith and obedience.
Prayer of Those who cannot go to Holy Mass
Dear Guardian Angel, go for me to the church; there kneel down at Mass for me. At the Offertory, take me to God, and offer Him my service: What I am, what I have, offer as my gift. At the Consecration, with your seraphic strength, adore my Saviour truly present, praying for those who have loved me, for those who have offended me, and for those now deceased, that the blood of Jesus may purify them all. During Holy Communion, bring to me the body and blood of Jesus uniting Him with me in spirit, so that my heart may become His dwelling place. Plead with Him, that through His sacrifice all people throughout the world may be saved. When the Mass ends, bring home to me and to every home, the Lord’s blessing. Amen.
